Mentoring System
A structured mentor-mentee system ensuring every student receives personal academic, professional and personal guidance throughout their programme.
A new strategy to access and motivate students has been initiated at SVPP. All faculty and students across all semesters are divided into mentor-mentee groups. One faculty member is assigned to 10–15 students and is responsible for monitoring those students' academic progress, discussing behaviour with tutors and other faculty, and observing any unusual patterns or incidents.
Mentoring of students is a top institutional priority. Each faculty member takes keen interest in mentoring the students under their charge. Students are always free to approach their teachers for any kind of guidance — personal, professional or academic — and special endeavours are made to ensure students feel supported.
Apart from regular presence, mentors are available during designated counselling hours and counsel mentees on diverse issues ranging from personal and psychological matters to social and academic concerns. A counselling form is maintained for each mentee recording personal information, previous meeting details, academic performance and competitive examination details. Mentors meet students periodically to monitor performance and activities, provide guidance on lagging issues and, when necessary, conduct meetings with parents.
